Up All Night

One Direction released their debut single "What Makes You Beautiful" in September 2011 which almost immediately debuted at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart, after becoming the most pre-ordered Sony Music Entertainment single in history! "Gotta Be You" and "One Thing" both peaked within the UK Singles Chart top 10. In November 2011, they signed a record deal with Columbia Records in North America.

The boys embarked on a radio promotion splurge upon their arrival in US, as well as their first American tour as an opening act for Big Time Rush. "What Makes You Beautiful" was released in the US in the same month, where it debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 28, becoming the highest Billboard Hot 100 debut for a UK act since 1998, beating the Beatles. It was at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and as of July 2012, sold over 3 million copies all over the US. One Direction's debut studio album, "Up All Night" was released worldwide in early 2012 and was greatly praised for its teen appeal.
